Candidate Notice
You have been invited to an interview that runs on TrueCandidate. This page says exactly what happens, in the same words you will see on the consent screen before you join. Nothing is collected until you agree.
Who is interviewing you
The organization named in your invite. TrueCandidate is the tool they use; we act on their instructions and do not use your interview for anything else without your separate permission.
What is collected while you are on the call
- Your camera and microphone, recorded for the length of the call.
- Signals from this browser tab only: whether the tab is focused, the length of any pasted text, how many displays are connected, and the names of your camera and microphone devices.
- The moment you start speaking after each question.
- Eye and head movement estimated on your own device from the camera (summary numbers only, never images), including a one-minute calibration before the call.
- Anything you type or draw on the shared coding and sketch boards, and when you pasted into them.
- Any short actions the interviewer asks for (for example, turning your head or sharing your screen) and when they were asked.
Nothing is collected from other tabs, other apps or your files.
What is not done
- No software decides anything about you. Signals are shown to the interviewer as plain-text notes; a human reviewer decides what they mean, and their name is recorded with the decision.
- No score. There is no cheating score, risk score or ranking.
- No face images leave your device. The camera recording is stored for the interviewer to watch; the eye and head tracking runs in your browser and sends only numbers.
How long it is kept
The recording and browser signals are deleted a set number of days after the interview — between 7 and 90, chosen by the organization and shown on your consent screen — unless you open a re-review request, in which case nothing is deleted until it is closed.
What you can do afterwards
Right after the call you will see a page that shows what was collected, when it will be deleted, and a button to request a human re-review if you believe something was misread. You can also withdraw research consent there.
The optional research box
Separately, you may allow the interview to be kept, de-identified, to evaluate and improve the detection rules. Your label, the hiring organization, device names and IP address are removed; the copy is stored apart from the organization's data and never shared with them. This is optional, does not affect your interview, and you can withdraw at any time.
Before you join
- Use a laptop or desktop with a camera, in a quiet room with your face lit from the front.
- Chrome, Edge or Safari, up to date. No download or login is needed.
- Close other applications; the interviewer may ask you to share your screen.
- Run the camera and connection check on the join page. If your connection is poor, the check will say so before the call starts.
